Seven Kokeshi’s dolls have invaded the courtyard of the City Hall. Each of these seven illuminated dolls is carrying a luminous cocoon nestling in the centre of their stomachs. They all seem to be intent on the same mission: to lay down their treasure like offerings and symbols of the silk industry and renewal.
Like these huge Japanese dolls, the audience feels irresistibly drawn to the powerful sparkling lights which emanate from their giant cocoons which are ready to hatch. This richly symbolic creation celebrates the links between the textile industries in Lyon and Japan
