Rythmus is an interactive installation which tracks the heartbeat of two people standing opposite each other, connected by a circle of vertical tubes of light. The terminal picks up the heartbeats and translates the cardiac impulses into light so that the spectators can follow their pace. When no visitors are connected up, the installation disseminates specks of light and erratic electronic beats. But as soon as it reads two heart beats which are similar or irregular, it starts producing bizarre lights and sounds. Rythmus renders the invisible visible and turns a vital sign into a unique heart-to-heart experience.
