Useful tips

Every year over 4 million visitors come to enjoy the experience of the Festival of Lights in Lyon! Here are a few useful tips which will help you make the most of this event in the best possible way.

For an optimum Festival of Lights:

  • Prepare your tour in advance by selecting what you want to see or follow the suggested pathways.
  • Keep the programme provided at the info points in your bag or use the app.
  • Bring your camera – and remember to charge the batteries in advance!
  • Don't be too fashion-conscious - bear in mind that the weather may not be good and you will have a long walk ahead. Dress in warm comfortable clothing: wear a hat, padded jacket or coat, and gloves - and above all leave the high heels at home and wear walking shoes or trainers.

For a stress-free Festival of Lights:

  • Baby buggies are not advisable, in particular on the Presqu’île in places where you won’t be alone.
  • If possible, don't bring your car; use public transport instead.
  • Have a good look at our website and the programme to see the direction of circulation

Whether at home or at work, on Thursday 8 December, place lighted candles in your windows to perpetuate the Lyon tradition. Let’s light up Lyon!
