Located in the centre of the Presqu’île, the Place des Jacobins connects several attractive neighbourhoods. Its name comes from the religious Jacobin or the Friar preachers of the Saint Dominique order who were settled on a building on the south side of the square.
By its location, the square of the Jacobins takes advantage of an extraordinary atmosphere. After the renovating works done in the summer 2013, the central space around the fountain, has become a pedestrian zone.
Thursday 6 and Sunday 9 December from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Friday 7 and Saturday 8 December from 8 p.m. to midnight
David Udovtsch's You and the Night takes a fresh look at the natural phenomenon of the Northern Lights. It's a meditative installation where the illusionist makes the fountain in the place des Jacobins appear in the sky studded with countless stars. At the feet of the Sirens, female guardians of the cosmos, a hint of simmering, imperceptible colour slowly emerges.
