Birds made from bottles? That’s no big deal for BIBI who loves to inject a touch of poetic magic into our everyday lives. A regular contributor to the Festival of Lights, BIBI has installed a giant aviary on Place Voltaire, containing 300 luminous birds made of recycled plastic. Some of this plastic might have been yours if you responded to the appeal for plastic bottles launched before the Festival. This installation is an environmental statement of course, but it is also a community project as the bizarre creatures were crafted by young people during workshops run by BIBI. Wildlife and nature provide an unbridled source of inspiration for BIBI - who already entertained us with flying fish in the Place des Jacobins fountains in 2008 - fuelling collaborative and eco-friendly projects.
