Irene Suosalo is a Finnish visual artist who experiments with animation and moving images via coloured compositions, patterns and animated loops. A trained photographer, she found a new form of expression in animation, in particular by creating improvised visuals to accompany DJ sets and continues to create hybrid works blending sound and image. She is also an illustrator whose work has featured in the New York Times. Her creations, which have been showcased at festivals and included in audiovisual installations, rely heavily on shapes, colours and visual transformations. Music and movement are central to her special graphic universe.
