This Spanish artist redefines the visible world and widens our perspective. Where we see copses, trees, and lush foliage, he gives us his own form of geometry, at once very real and astute, yet gentle and reconciliatory. Javier Riera has used photography to project his cubes, lines, spirals, labyrinths, and rhombi in the gardens and parks of Madrid, Prague, Burgos, and Annecy. The forms he uses, his colour palette, his notion of space, and even the mathematical equations that precede his projections are subtly compelling. He studied fine arts in Salamanca then Madrid and today, as a Land Artist, restores some of nature's mystery through his work.
