Two lovers are seeking each other out in a city which is metamorphosing beneath their very eyes. During an 8-minute mapping, their silhouettes appear and disappear again in a brief encounter illustrated in a series of coloured tableaux. Here a garden, there a rippling river, further away a multi-storey city: the architecture is de-constructed, the perspectives change, the geometric shapes dance and the colours seem to configure space.
Inspired by abstract painting, in particular the work of Sonia Delaunay, Pia Vidal has created a huge open-air mural against the backdrop of a monumental building. The lovers’ wanderings are accompanied by gentle music gradually reaching a crescendo leaving visitors time to contemplate each detail. The title Vibraa refers to the vibrato, a musical effect in which the pitch fluctuates making it more expressive. Here, the shapes and colours pulsate, speaking volumes.
