Departures, homecomings, new discoveries - so many stories encapsulated in one powerful idea. Now in Lyon, everyone can stay on track!
Contenu

The story begins in 1981 with the first high-speed train link between Lyon and Paris. Studio BK is celebrating the 45th anniversary of this event by converting the facade of place Antonin Poncet into a huge window through which visitors can follow this historic journey. The first orange TGV train speeds across the building then the tracks fan out, linking Lyon to the main cities of France and Europe. This tailor-made mapping exploits the full breadth of the façade to show a stylized graphic universe where cities, landscapes and journeys speed past; a voiceover and musical score underline the transition from one period of time to another.

Discover how these high-speed rails links gradually brought cities and communities closer to together, relativised our perception of distance and engendered encounters. Everyone can come onboard: this installation offers an area for visitors with reduced mobility as well as audio description for the visually impaired.
