Nature delights us with some truly spectacular phenomena, none the less so than a murmuration - the airborne flocks of birds that we may have been lucky to have seen at least once. The captivating sight of swooping starlings has inspired the installation on place des Jacobins where the birds are represented by pulsating dots of light. Four hundred orbs - tiny digital globes of light - communicate with light and sound as they fly in unison. Whirling around the fountain, these multi-coloured swarms move this way and that in perfect harmony with their environment. Let yourself be hypnotized by the poetic spectacle of these birds wheeling freely in the sky.

Murmuration was showcased for the first time at Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art in the US illuminating its outdoor spaces with a changing day and night-time display. However, due to Covid, the installation stayed in place for eight months rather than three as initially planned. This was good news for the museum’s neighbours who had an extra five months to admire it.
