Let's meet at the rose garden in the Tête d’Or Park where the magic of a garden of light awaits. An enchanting, heart-warming tableau composed of more than 3,000 candles, reeds, and aquatic grasses, and over 270 bouquets. This historic rose garden is dressed in soul-soothing shades of blue. Our faces light up when we see the 12,000 flames that make up this installation, each an image of hope and fragility. And of course, spectators are invited to contribute to the ever-changing set run by a team of volunteers. This year, tradition and poetry are put to work to build solidarity and improve people's lives. The proceeds from the sale of the lumignons du Coeur candles will go to the Salvation Army Foundation… At 2 Euros each, that means that 35 candles can pay for a free day out for a child.

The Foundation carries out social work and community healthcare, provides protection and support for children and adolescents, works with people living with disabilities and addiction, and provides food aid. It has around 180 centres in thirty departments, and over 2,500 employees working to support local communities. Its mission is to come to the rescue of families and anyone living in poverty and suffering, to help them rebuild their lives and provide long-term support via a wide range of practical and often life-saving measures. This active organisation is dedicated to social change, working across the whole of the Metropolitan Area from its headquarters in Lyon's 6th arrondissement. Its residential care centre, the Cité de Lyon, has 130 beds and provides a range of local services and facilities, including community restaurants, emergency services and accommodation, integration projects and workshops, and upcycling centres.

Contenu

The Cité de Lyon, run by the Salvation Army Foundation, has been continually widening the scope of its work since its creation in 1962. Its buildings were renovated ten years ago to enable it to respond more effectively to the multiple social crises in the city. It is also now operating a food truck, so that food can be distributed straight to the people that need it.
