French digital artist Louis-Paul Carron composes images using a combination of painting and digital technology. Inspired by classical art, cinema, and animation, he explores images' potential to tell of our era and question our political, ecological, and existential contradictions. After studying digital arts and producing several animated shorts on the environment, he became interested in the masters of the Italian Renaissance, using 3D tools to study their use of composition, colour, and light. Recently, he has come back to oil painting, forging connections between ancient techniques and contemporary images. In the series Incendie [Fire], he depicts a planet in flames, beautiful yet catastrophic, an aura of calm concealing the world falling apart beneath.
