Based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the north-east of England, Theatre Illumiere is a street and puppet theatre company that creates unique and captivating roving characters. Their work features at festivals across the world, inviting the public to enter an imaginary world where everyday objects come to life, becoming characters in their own right. With this fantastical, poetic subversion of the familiar, the company encourages each of us to take a fresh look at our environment and find curiosity, joy, and wonder in the day-to-day. Their wandering installations transform public spaces into surprising places for experimentation, where encounters with bizarre creatures spark the imagination and create moments shared with passers-by.
