These two streetlights, guardians of the night, wander among the crowd, fooling around, bending down to exchange conspiratorial looks. Beneath their Victorian apparel lie two kind, curious characters who just want to light the way for passers-by and share a few chance encounters. As they meet people, they stop to cast a golden halo of light, wave to a child, or lead a group of strangers in a joyful parade. Their soft light outlines fleeting moments of theatre in the streets of the city centre, transforming urban spaces into make-believe backdrops. With The Living Lamp Posts, Theatre Illumiere creates poetry where we least expect it, inviting us to look at familiar objects in a new light, as though they too may have secret lives.
