Come and see the combination of imagination + freedom + collective stimulation + transmission of knowledge, and you’ll understand why it’s so enlightening! Art school students embrace the Festival of Lights, expressing themselves to the full. Learning by doing and experimenting is the key to this magnificent opportunity, which has now been running for 17 years. From conception to implementation, the participants, ably supported by the Grands Ateliers, submitted a total of 50 projects. In May this year, a multi-disciplinary jury - from backgrounds in architecture, design, plastic arts and digital arts - selected 10 of the projects. Since then, the installations have been crafted, fine-tuned, tested and produced at the Grands Ateliers in Villefontaine.

Until now, students have taken part in a competition in which they each put forward their own expertise and personal vision of the work to be created for the Festival of Lights. The approach is now moving more towards a school project, resulting in a more collective springboard. However, the humour, quirkiness and inventiveness of these unique works is set to stay!
