You can almost reach out and touch the moon under the glass ceiling of Les Subsistances.
Indeed, the moon has never been closer than here in Lyon in December. You can observe the details of its surface and at last discover its hidden face or simply bask in its celestial aura, bathed in a pale light and accompanied by an ethereal soundtrack.
________
Artistic intent
This interactive work was created to draw attention to the issue of global warming and the water cycle by showing metaphorically the impact every human action has on the environment.
________
Museum of the Moon was co-commissioned by a number of organisations brought together by the artist and the Norfork and Norwich festival: Greenwich+Docklands International Festival, Brighton Festival, Without Walls, Cork Midsummer Festival, We The Curious, Lakes Alive, Provincial Domain Dommelhof, Les Tombées de la Nuit, Rennes and Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. The installation was also created in partnership with the UK Space Agency, the University of Bristol and the Association for Science and Discovery Centres.
