S.E.P.T.E.M.

S.E.P.T.E.M. transforms the façade of Saint-Jean Cathedral into living matter during a seven- minute mapping which traces the seven stages of alchemy. This site-specific artwork inhabits the Gothic architecture: the stone cracks, dissolves and is reborn again while organic shapes appear and breathe life into the building. The strict geometrical lines of this Gothic masterpiece blend with surreal, organic, quasi biological shapes in this world of esoteric enlightenment.
The sequences are bonded together by a pink substance whose shape and function changes as the story unfolds, connecting the various links in this chain of transformation. When the work reaches its apex, the cathedral seems to fade away into the light to reveal a tree of life, the symbol of reawakening.
With its soundtrack blending electronic textures, classical instruments and choral vocals, S.E.P.T.E.M. is an invitation to witness a building mutate like a living creature.
