In a nutshell

Accroche
Three artists inhabiting three separate worlds, all driven by the same desire to express their creativity on a single façade. This dynamic movement takes its source in Ukraine, Greece and Romania.

1rst work: Journey to Ukraine / Svitlana Reinish

We are looking through the window of a train which is leaving from Saint Paul railway station, travelling through the Ukraine before returning to its point of departure. We marvel at living scenes of art and culture and, when the train is on its return leg, it is filled with memories and luminous photos. Sound plays a central role in this poetic immersion, giving each scene its own voice. There is a merry choir of animals - the phantasmagorical creatures inspired by Ukrainian painter Maria Prymachenko - in perfect harmony with the architecture and the colours of the mosaics.

2nd work: Trax / Panagiotis Tomaras

Red, black and grey: signals, rails, wheels and trains passing by. All these familiar railway objects  embody patterns, rhythms and beats. This geometric artwork is perfectly aligned with the façade of the railway station. The strong lines of the station’s architecture provide a guiding structure for the changing visuals and electronic sounds which give off a lively vibe. Trax tracks connections and creates imaginary journeys against the backdrop of Lyon’s old town, a UNESCO world heritage site. The graphic style of the railway maps unfolding before our eyes heightens our awareness so that we see the familiar routine of our everyday journeys in a new light.

3rd work: Travessence / Vali Chincișan

The façade of Saint Paul railway station becomes a living tableau. Dance, painting, sculpture and music blend and converse.  The sound of the violin is the starting point of this colourful artistic journey. This creation opens our eyes to a landscape that is above all imaginary and symbolic, but we are also journeying within the confines of our memories. Everyone is invited to explore their own emotions, depending on their baggage and their desire for escapism. Vali Chincișan, who lives and works in Bucharest, tends to consider art as a means of self-regeneration. Transformation and mobility are integral to the experience offered here.
