A graduate of the Van Der Kelen Art School in Brussels, Lyon-born Philippe Morvan worked as a set designer for film, theatre and music before becoming a visual artist and light designer. His extensive experience in the performing arts, from the TNP to the Opéra du Rhin in Strasbourg, inspired his imagination, leading him to create what he calls “luminous and sonic machines.” He aims to create artworks that are accessible to everyone and spark imagination as audiences round the street corner. Philippe Morvan has featured regularly at the Festival of Lights since 2009. His namesake, also Philippe Morvan, often composes the music that accompanies his installations, while his son Paolo Morvan collaborates with him on light programming.
