Capture the Festival

The Festival of Lights showcases 32 illuminated artworks across the city. To get a glimpse of the installations, follow the latest updates, or check practical information, follow the Festival’s official social media accounts:

Don’t forget to share your photos and videos of the Festival using the hashtag #FDL2024!

Light Up the City

On December 8, light up the city by placing your candle jars on your window sills. A symbolic gesture that transforms the city for one evening... So, grab your lumignons!

Do you know about Lumignons du Cœur? As part of this initiative, you can purchase one or more candle jars for €2 from an association—this year, Alynea – Samu Social 69. These lumignons will then be used to create a participatory artwork, located this year at Place Sathonay (Lyon 1st). You’ll discover an aquarium surrounded by stylized fish where visitors will be invited to add to the treasure of lumignons at the bottom of the waters.

Vote for the Awards

With the Trophées des Lumières, organized by France 3 Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes in partnership with the City of Lyon, vote for the winning artworks in two categories:

  • Coup de cœur: Rewarding the most spectacular creation of the year.
  • Committed Project: Honoring an artist’s societal and eco-responsible approach through their work.

Also, check out the selection of kid-friendly artworks: six pieces specifically designed for younger audiences, ensuring everyone—big and small—enjoys the Festival.

Stay Warm

The Festival of Lights takes place in December, so... it’s cold! Weather forecasts suggest mild weather on Thursday, December 5, and Friday, December 6, but possible rain over the weekend. Remember to bring gloves, scarves, hats, and warm clothing. A practical tip: comfortable walking shoes will make exploring the city more enjoyable!
