Three Eolights look down upon the main street of The Village shopping centre. Wind turbines have been subverted into dynamic light features - a new form of street furniture with a fun and festive feel. An RGB LED system mixes the three primary colours, lighting up the blades in an infinite palette of hues. Depending on the intensity of the colours, the visitor can admire kaleidoscopic windmills or giant flowers, escapees from a childish dream. The light reflects off the surrounding buildings rippling, swirling and strobing hypnotically. They may not generate any actual power, but they are heralding the arrival of the devices that will be omnipresent in tomorrow’s urban landscape.
