Imagine you can almost reach out and touch the stars and planets. Gaze into the cosmos, watch the stars twinkle and admire the details of these floating celestial bodies. This will be no ordinary stroll along the Rue de la République, thanks to the galaxy created by the PITAYA studio and given pride of place above the city’s main pedestrian street for the third year running. Don’t miss it, as this will be the final presentation of the installation at Lyon’s Festival of Lights. What a success it’s been! Planétoïdes is a play on light, with each of the 70 aluminium discs reflecting the changing colours of the dancing light. It’s also a technical feat, as each “planet” is unique, having been laser cut then sculpted by hand. Welcome to the realm of dreams!

The various components of Planétoïdes are made of metal discs around which a circle of LEDs rotates, each with a light cycle of around 4 minutes. The direction and speed of rotation of the circles differs from one work to the next.
